For the Las Vegas Detention Center, the following are inmate policies that must be adhered to closely:

Processing and Bail for Las Vegas Inmates

The primary goals of processing inmates into a Las Vegas correctional facility are to accurately identify the person arrested. Along with being booked on charges, their property is inventoried and recorded, and the collection of any reports or paperwork involving the arrest are verified for completion and accuracy.

Once in custody, the Las Vegas arrestee is fingerprinted, photographed, and given a medical exam prior to being placed in confinement. Before arraignment, arrestees are held within the facility until a judge determines whether they should be held, granted bail or bond, released, or sentenced. Inmate Visitation Rules and Hours

People are ineligible to visit an inmate in Las Vegas if they: are inappropriately dressed, under the influence of intoxicants and/or illicit drugs, previously convicted felons, previously a Las Vegas correctional facility inmate during the prior six months, have arrest warrants, are under supervised release, probation, or parole, or constitute a security or safety threat to the facility or inmate.

Visitation schedules are based upon the sex of the inmate and the Las Vegas facility they are in. Unit 1 is Saturday, from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Unit 3, covering North Las Vegas male inmates only, is from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Units 4 and 7 for males only, is from 7-10 p.m. Sunday hours for Unit 2 are from 7:30-9:30 a.m.; Units 5 and 6 are from 7-10 p.m.; and Unit 7, females only is from 9:30-10:00 a.m.

Prior to accepting visitors, the incarcerated person provides management with a list that requires approval, including the full name and the date of birth of each visitor. Upon arrival, visitors must present valid photo identification.

Inmate Mail Rules

To send mail to Las Vegas facilities, include the person’s name, identification number, facility name, and mail to 3300 Stewart Avenue, Las Vegas, Nevada 89101. Parcels and photos are not allowed, and any mail without a return address will be returned.

Placing Money in an Inmate’s Account

There are three ways to send money: online, in-person using a kiosk at 3300 Stewart Avenue, Las Vegas, Nevada 89101, from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, excluding holidays; and by calling 1-866-345-1884. Kiosks accept credit and debit cards, and cash.

Property Release

A release form is required to release property. The incarcerated individual can acquire one from the facility, or a visitor can obtain one at the bail window. Property is released from 8-10 a.m. and 8-10 p.m.

Inmate Release Information

For the safety of incarcerated individuals, release information is not public knowledge. Men and women are released at different times of the day and sometimes at different locations, based on whether they are released during the day or during the night.
